Project management

Most people are familiar with the term project management and what it is. Even if you aren't sure exactly what project management is, you can deduce its purpose from the name.

Project management isn't exclusively an I.T. thing, but it is most often associated with the management of technology based projects and that is certainly the purpose of our reference to it.

Project management isn't something that necessarilly requires a technical background, but some technical resource may often be required to help the manager to understand and plan for some projects.

The role of a project manager

A project manager will normaly plan, resource and deliver a project objective, taking into account personnel, budget and timescales.

There are no hard and fast rules with project management as many people use different approaches and in some cases the project manager may also be fulfilling another role in the delivery team.

A project manager must be organised, resourceful and realistic, managing expectations and ensuring clear communication is maintained.
